Robusta comes from Central and West Africa and is often used for instant coffee and espresso. The finer Robusta varieties are often used in coffee blends, combined with Arabica. In a coffee blend with Arabica gives Robustan a deeper taste and a good cream..
The taste of Robusta is stronger and sharper, with hints of spruce and a peanut-like aftertaste. The beans contain twice as much caffeine as Arabica and have a low acid content.
Robusta coffee plants are grown at a lower level, between 0-800 meters.
The plants grow 4.5-6.5 meters high and require a temperature of 18-36C and more rain than the Arabica plants.
